Manchester United have initiated discussions with Brentford’s forward, Bryan Mbeumo, according to talkSPORT. The winger from the Bees has had his most successful season to date, aiding the west London team to secure a tenth-place finish in the league.

The 25-year-old played in all 38 of Brentford’s Premier League games, contributing 20 goals and seven assists. His last goal of the season was in a 1-1 draw against Wolves in the final match. With only a year remaining on his contract, Brentford might have to reluctantly sell him to avoid losing him for free.

The Red Devils are prepared to challenge Brentford’s stance as manager Ruben Amorim aims to build a squad capable of returning to European competitions. Brentford values Mbeumo at approximately £50 million, with Newcastle also expressing interest. Bees manager Thomas Frank has acknowledged the possibility of Mbeumo leaving, stating that they are unable to keep him at the club.

He admitted: “I can definitely understand the interest in him. He is at his peak performance, scoring 20 goals. I would love to keep him, but we are a selling club, so if the price is right, we might have to let him go.” United are moving swiftly in their preparations for the upcoming season, having already secured a deal to acquire Wolves’ Matheus Cunha for £62.5 million.

They are also interested in signing Liam Delap from Ipswich Town, who has a £30 million relegation release clause. However, Chelsea appears to be leading the race to sign Delap, as they can offer Champions League football, and manager Enzo Maresca has previously worked with the young talent during his stint as Manchester City’s assistant manager.

With Marcus Rashford likely to leave United permanently, Amorim is eager to strengthen the wings. He has also advised winger Alejandro Garnacho to seek a new club, emphasizing the necessity for United to actively pursue new forwards. With Mbeumo, they have a player who guarantees goals, trailing only Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak, and Erling Haaland in Premier League scoring this season.
