According to The Athletic, Cunha agreed to join the “Red Devils” many days ago, and now, the 5-year contract, with an option to extend until 2031, is ready to be signed.
The transfer fee is up to 62.5 million pounds, equivalent to Cunha’s contract termination clause, but MU will pay in installments. The paperwork between the two clubs will be completed this week.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano used the familiar phrase “Here we go” to confirm that the deal is about to be approved. “Cunha is Manchester United’s first new player in the summer of 2025,” the Italian journalist concluded.
Cunha is only 25 years old and has had an impressive season at Wolves thanks to his speed, technique and flexibility. He is expected to bring a breakthrough to MU’s attack under coach Ruben Amorim.
Joining Wolves as a striker, Cunha gradually transformed and shone in the role of an attacking midfielder and on both wings. Dribbling from the left wing and charging straight into the middle are Cunha’s strengths.
In addition to Cunha, Liam Delap and Viktor Gyokeres are also of interest to MU. However, both want to play in the Champions League next season, putting the “Red Devils” at a disadvantage compared to other competitors such as Arsenal or possibly Chelsea in the near future.
On the contrary, the future of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee is in question. Hojlund has not attracted much attention from European clubs. Juventus is a rare team that wants Hojlund. Similarly, Zirkzee is rumored to return to Serie A to play. MU is likely to suffer a loss if they sell this duo.
